José Mourinho has hit back at Pep Guardiola, claiming he has been fair and square despite winning three Premier League titles and avoids the 115 charges he has been charged with.
Manchester City lost to Liverpool at the weekend and Guardiola hit back at the Anfield crowd. By holding up the thumbs up to indicate he had won the league six times.
The image was similar to the three-fingered gesture Mourinho gave to Chelsea and Tottenham fans towards the end of his time in charge of Manchester United in 2018. Mourinho
was sacked a few months later and, when asked if he would face the same fate, the Spaniard
replied: “Hopefully I won’t end up like that… He’s won three, I’ve won six… but we are all the same.
“We are in the same situation to let our fans know we are much better than the person. Who was singing that song ยูฟ่าเบท (Liverpool fans joking about being sacked).” “
It’s an action to let our fans know what we have done is great. I want to prove we are a great club. Sooner or later it will all end. But I will try to drag on as long as I can for the best thing for the club.”
However, when the news reached the ears of Mourinho, he replied that the league title he won was clean
. “Guardiola said something about me yesterday. He has won six and I won three, but I won it fair and square,” Mourinho said.
“If I lose I want to congratulate the opponents because they are better than me. I do not want to win by having 150 charges.”
The Portuguese’s words were a reference to City’s current fight with the Premier League. After being accused of 115 breaches of Financial Fair Play regulations.
The hearings on the charges have been ongoing for some time and reports suggest that the case is close to a decision. With the conclusion of evidence earlier this month still on track to be decided.
The source said that a decision could still be made before the end of the season, however, a possible appeal by either side would delay the matter.
